The clarity you didn't know you needed
If you don't know where you're going, how do you expect to get there? A clear vision is knowing exactly what you want and keeping the focus until you achieve it. A lot of entrepreneurs are walking around with fuzzy vision, a very vague idea of what they’re even creating and why it matters. Others have too many ideas, and no control of the shiny object syndrome they suffer from... so end up going in circles.
Without discipline of your mind, a clear vision of what you want & a compelling reason to keep working for it... it’ll be hard to convince yourself that the journey to build your business will be worth it.
It took me a long time to really understand the core of what I was trying to build in KULTURE. Of course I had vague ideas of wanting to help entrepreneurs.. But figuring out what that even looks like, was all trial and error for me. I didn’t hire anyone to help me gain clarity around my ideas so I had to do a lot of soul searching. I felt a lot like I had no idea what I was doing... because I hadn’t clarified in my mind what I was even building. So a lot of things I did just felt disconnected from a bigger picture. Another downside was that I regularly fell into the trap of other people’s goals. Distracted by the cool & interesting short term gains they offered... because I hadn’t committed to my vision.

So it’s important to know where you want to go. It’s important to clean up your headspace and have a clean picture of what your business or brand is about.
Are you on a personal journey or do you believe in the future of a particular piece of technology? Do you want thousands of followers... or will you feel satisfied going deep with 10 people.
The world is your playground, and it’s all up to you to create. You just have to make that decision. The greatest thing about it is, there is no wrong answer. It’s really up to your preferences & what you think is important. If you don’t clarify this important piece of your brand building journey, you’ll travel many roads and end up nowhere or just as a fixture in someone else’s vision (either of which is fine for other people, but for an entrepreneur on a mission, this will bring no results).
So how do you gain this clarity? If you’re not clear about what your brand is really about and what outcome you want for yourself.. Try asking yourself these questions:
Why did I decide to start my business?
What impact do I want to have on society?
Why is it worth the trouble?
When I’ve fully established myself, how will people benefit?
Etched into the responses will be clear ideas about the future you’re working towards. Take your time to envision and even feel what it feels like to successfully establish yourself. Make sure that each response aligns well to the other to make sure there is consistency in your thoughts. Otherwise, it could mean that you haven’t gotten to that core thing that is driving you. So keep asking yourself why, why, why until you figure it out.
If you’ve done this right, you should be able to describe in a simple sentence the outcome you’re creating for yourself, your brand, and your audience. Finish this sentence: “I’m creating this brand so that...” Go ahead, describe the new future that you’re building.. Describe the outcome of all your efforts. In this new world you’re building, what has changed. Don’t hold back, you’re a creator and you have what it takes to make this happen.
You must first see it in your mind, before you will see it in reality. Go to this place, and tell me in the comments what it looks like. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
